So, this is really exciting for all you XTC fans out there; Over at their myspace/fan site, there is a weekly feature where they’ll post up an XTC song and Andy Partridge will discuss it. I’m not talking about a quick paragraph or two. No, these are multi-page conversations covering seemingly every possible angle and tidbit. Hours, if not days and weeks, of fun to be had if you’re into XTC.
Andy Partridge - I Wonder Why The Wonderfalls
The song featured this week is “I Wonder Why The Wonderfalls”, a theme that Andy was commissioned to do for a very short-lived 2004 television show. Canceled after only four episodes, Wonderfalls apparently didn’t catch on quick enough for the execs.
I checked out the pilot, and while it’s not terribly amazing, I can see why the show has a cult following. It’s quirky; “Amelie U.S.A.”, as Andy put it.
Normally, I would end the post with some XTC tourdates, but ummm………it’s not 1979?

I’m a huge XTC fan but this was not a great song from their canon. That being said, Wonderfalls is, well, wonderful! It’s worth it to check out the full series even though only 4 actually aired originally. I think there is maybe one clunker amongst the dozen or so episodes. Pushing Daisies is from the same creators and worth checking out.
